The project aims to modernize and digitize the infrastructures of Air Traffic Management (ATM) service within airport airspace. The vision is to make air transportation more efficient, sustainable, and safe,
in line with the EU‘s environmental and digitalization goals.
Thanks to the co-financing from the Spanish CDTI with Next Generation EU funds, the project will develop
two new components:
Digital Twin Romeo5 (GDR5)
Developed on the Romeo5, the GDR5 provides a virtual and dynamic representation of the aerodrome and its operations to enhance airport safety and efficiency levels. This digital model will allow simulation and real-time analysis of various operational situations and scenarios, facilitating informed decision-making and anticipating potential issues or conflicts.
Intelligent Assistant GTA5.0
A system based on advanced AI technologies, designed to support air traffic controllers and other professionals in decision-making and executing complex tasks. GTA5.0 will provide Augmented Situational Awareness, enabling controllers to access relevant information to ensure operational efficiency and environmental sustainability at the airport.
The GDR5 and GTA5.0 plan to investigate the application of digital assistants to the following use cases:
Low visibility conditions at the airport
Service degradation
Playback and post-analysis
Runway performance
Airport emissions model
Automatic detection of instructions for ML training
